We booked the room about a month ahead of time online. I understand they are short staffed and renovating, but there are so many things they could have done to make the transition better, that just fell way too short.… Overall, I definitely would not return to this hotel. It closes on you when you try to get in or out, but then gets hung up when everyone is loaded in. There is one elevator for a fairly large hotel. The food was subpar, but drinks were good. Our waiter was really trying but he just couldn’t handle it all. The service was good but severely short staffed. Too tired to look elsewhere, we give it a chance. We had looked it up online and seemed to have a nice menu, well it wasn’t the same menu when we got there. We decide to try the in-house restaurant, “Rendezvous”. We literally have the same conversation, yes we just checked in, yes the room is clean, no we don’t have trash bags or towels, and again, another response that she will get them. There is another knock, I go to the door to retrieve the missing items only to see a new lady with a shocked look. My husband hadn’t yet seen the lady supposedly bringing the missing items.

This is when I checked the pool for the kids, find it is closed, go back to the room. She tells me she will get them and bring back up. She says “oh, did you just now check in?” I tell her yes, she asks if the room is clean and I tell her yes but needed trash bags and towels. A lady was standing there and was shocked that we were there. Just as I was looking around there was a knock at the door. Really?! We go to our room, and thankfully it had just been cleaned, but we were missing trash bags and there were only 2 towels for 5 people. When I check in with tired children, she tells me that our room may not be clean yet but she didn’t really know, but that we could go check and leave our things in the room if I’d like. Check in was suppose to be at 4pm, and they had even told me I could come early, but we didn’t arrive until 5pm. I should have known there would be issues when we first checked in. When I asked why, the clerk only said they hadn’t treated it yet, again I ask why, she just says I don’t know. Late June, so it shouldn’t be a problem being an outdoor pool, right? No. Long story, short: Not enough staff The employees don’t communicate Pool was closed for unknown reasons Room was clean Elevator was scary, old, and decrepit They are renovating, but it gave off the feel of the “Cecil Hotel” (look it up and see the sketchiness) We ended up here because everyone else was booked up, and was pleased to see there was a pool. This hotel is now Clarion hotel and conference.
